FAQ

We have received different questions related to the event. Please see below for answers.

1) When do I need to be there?
Check the itinerary, as there are many things going on. The event itself starts at 10 am, but doors open and the candidate meet-and-greet begins at 9 am. Furthermore, tailgating begins at 8 am and runs until the event begins at 10. We hope that you will join us for the tailgating, but try to be there no later than 10!

2) What candidates will be available at the meet-and-greet?
We have invited candidates from all political affiliations running for everything from City Council to Congress. In all, approximately 20 candidates will be there to meet with attendees. Also, several organizations have rented booths. Presence of any particular candidate or organization does not constitute an endorsement by the Tucson Tea Party.

3) What is the parking situation and how do I get there?
There are 3500 parking spaces around TEP. We encourage everyone to take more than one person in their car as TEP fits 11,500 people. Overall, there should be enough parking. TEP is located at 2500 E Ajo Way (map) right off the I-10.

4) Is this event wheelchair friendly?
Yes, there are several wheelchair sections. There are also more than 8000 seats available. Don’t worry, you won’t have to stand for three hours!

5) Will there be concessions available?
Yes, concessions are run through TEP. The Tucson Tea Party does not make any money on the concessions. Feel free to bring drinks and snacks with you, but you cannot bring coolers into the park itself. It’s perfectly fine for the tailgating, however!

6) What kind of security are you providing?
TEP is providing ten security staffers. The Pima County Sheriffs will have ten officers on the premises. These security personnel will be located throughout the event as well as in the parking lot.

7) Can I bring my signs?
Absolutely! All we ask is that you don’t hold your sign up in front of the people behind you unless it is at an appropriate moment when everyone else is.

8) How much is admission to the event?
The event is free to attend! We want everyone to be involved and attend. We understand that everyone has different abilities to give in these times, so we are kindly accepting donations in all amounts, large or small.

9) If I give a donation, where does it go?
The Tucson Tea Party is a registered 527 non-profit political organization. All donations will be used for future events, mobilizing voters, and promoting liberty-based ideas. We will also be tackling important issues during this month’s City Council election, as well as the next big battle in 2010!
