Event Info

The purpose of Tucson’s Last Stand is to galvanize the people of Tucson and Pima County to clean house in November’s Tucson City Council election, and then continue onward into 2010. This event will be a major fundraiser for the electoral battles ahead, and while admission is free, donations are strongly encouraged.

All levels of government, whether in Tucson or Washington, are faced with pervasive corruption and incompetence.

The federal government has drastically overstepped its constitutional and financial. Since September 2008, the government has pledged $12.8 trillion dollars in bailouts, stimulus money, loans, and guarantees to various institutions, including big banks and auto companies. This equals nearly the output of the entire country and is equivalent to $42,105 for every man, woman, and child. All in just one year.

Meanwhile, Tucson’s City Council has wasted over $100 Million Dollars on the Rio Nuevo Project with nothing to show for it. Where did that money go? Meanwhile, police and fire department funding has been cut (despite Tucson having one of the highest crime rates in the country) while council-member pet projects continue to be funded in abundance. The anti-business attitude of Tucson’s politicians has been a burden on Tucson’s small businesses, university students, and workers alike. Whether you live in the city or the county, these decisions affect your life in profound ways.

It’s time to do something about it. It’s time to stand up for our city and our country. It’s time to remove these people from office!

Hosted by the Tucson Tea Party, this event will offer nationally renowned speakers, local talk radio hosts, and political candidates who will engage the audience on important issues of the day, including unsustainable government spending, the role of government in the private sphere, the constitution, and local political issues.

Attendees will also be able to engage directly with City Council and Congressional candidates who are competing in upcoming elections.

A political event of this size and scope has never occurred in the history of Tucson and Pima County. The caliber of speakers and public access to political candidates is truly unprecedented. Do not miss your opportunity to attend this event!

Come join us on October 10 at Tucson Electric Park from 10 am – 1 pm and see how you can stand up for Tucson!
